Welcome to our first-ever Seafood Fest

Welcome to our first-ever Seafood Fest

Activism around the food value chain gained urgency during the Covid-19 pandemic. The V&A Waterfront is among those who are deeply engaged. We want to support and expand possibilities for our food ecosystem; but on a systems level we also have a deep commitment to opportunity, sustainability, and inclusivity.

SOLVE@Waterfront and Makers Landing are therefore excited to invite all interested and concerned people to our inaugural Seafood Fest on April 1st and 2nd. It’s a festival showcasing and celebrating all things seafood. Cooks will be able to browse and choose from selected, sustainably caught fresh fish, and participate in demo classes; visitors can expect a great food vendor mix, live local music and more.

In partnership with Mikateko Media/ Koe’Sister Magazine and The Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation, we will host a series of discussions focused on the challenges faced by the fishing industry and the communities it serves. Contributing to the dialogue will be Western Cape fishers, and other partners from across our ecosystem. We will also be exploring varying views on what ‘sustainable’ means to each of us, and how this should inform our purchasing decisions as both chefs and consumers.
